Αν και μια τέτοια κίνηση είναι απολύτως δικαιολογημένη για θέματα οπλοκατοχής — ο σκοπός πίσω απο την απόφαση όπως δηλώνουν οι αρχές — δεν καθυσηχάζει κανέναν το γεγονός πως αρχεία με λεπτομέρειες για την προσωπική ζωή του καθενός, που κάποιος θεωρούσε θα έμειναν απόρρητα όταν τα εκμυστηρευόταν σε εξειδικευμένο γιατρό, θα βρίσκονται στη διάθεση (και στο έλεος) της εκάστοτε κυβέρνησης. Μια φορά να πεις «ήταν η χειρότερη εβδομάδα που πέρασα στη ζωή μου. Την Κυριακή ήθελα απλά να πεθάνω (I just wanted to shoot myself, που λένε πολύ συχνά στα Αγγλικά) …. » αρκεί για να εμφανιστεί κουστουμαρισμένος κρατικός υπάλληλος με χαρτί στη πόρτα σου να ανακοινώνει πως πάσχεις απο κλινική κατάθλιψη, είσαι επικίνδυνος για τους γύρω σου, κτλ. 

Απο κει και πέρα, εύκολο είναι να αφαιρέσεις δικαιώματα, ασφαλιστικά προνόμια, να υπάρχει μια άνευ λόγου προκατάληψη προς τον καθένα. Έτσι γεννιέται, εν ολίγοις, ο νέος ρατσισμός.

On Tuesday March 6, the French National Assembly (Assemblée Nationale) passed a law proposing the creation of a new biometric ID card for French citizens with the justification of combating “identity fraud”. More than 45 million individuals in France will have their fingerprints and digitized faces stored in what would be the largest biometric database in the country. The bill was immediately met with negative reactions. Yesterday more than 200 members of the French Parliament referred it to the Conseil constitutionnel, challenging its compatibility with Europeans’ fundamental rights framework, including the right to privacy and the presumption of innocence. The Conseil will consider whether the law is contrary to the French Constitution.
