Η Newstead Pharmaceuticals (πατήστε εδώ για να δείτε την ιστοσελίδα) είναι μια εταιρία γίγαντας στον χώρο της βιοτεχνολογίας στην οποία ανήκει η γνωστή εταιρία Monsanto. Αναρωτιέσαι τι κάνει η εταιρία αυτή; Αυτό που κάνει είναι να παίρνει DNA από διάφορα ζώα και φυτά, να τα ανακατεύει και να φτιάχνει ένα έμβρυο, το οποίο μετά εμφυτεύεται σε τεχνητή μήτρα.

Το αφήνουν να μεγαλώσει και όταν ωριμάσει το κρατάνε ζωντανό σε ειδικά κλουβιά έτσι ώστε να μπορούν να παίρνουν το αίμα του.

Το αίμα αυτών των πλασμάτων περιέχει μια νέα πρωτεΐνη που ονομάζεται CD-356 και δεν υπάρχει σε κανένα ζώο ή φυτό του πλανήτη, δηλαδή είναι εντελώς συνθετική! Μετά περνάνε αυτήν την πρωτεΐνη σε ζώα, όπως σε αγελάδες, έτσι ώστε να παράγουν καινούργια φάρμακα — αγελάδες τις οποίες εσύ και εγώ αργότερα θα φάμε.

«A Time Bomb For Civil Liberties»: France Adopts a New Biometric ID Card

On Tuesday March 6, the French National Assembly (Assemblée Nationale) passed a law proposing the creation of a new biometric ID card for French citizens with the justification of combating “identity fraud”. More than 45 million individuals in France will have their fingerprints and digitized faces stored in what would be the largest biometric database in the country. The bill was immediately met with negative reactions. Yesterday more than 200 members of the French Parliament referred it to the Conseil constitutionnel, challenging its compatibility with Europeans’ fundamental rights framework, including the right to privacy and the presumption of innocence. The Conseil will consider whether the law is contrary to the French Constitution.
